Results of the 2021 Florida Swimming Age Group South Championships in Sarasota are in, and our three FLAG swimmers had a great meet.
Hayden Tedhams (13) dropped 4.67 seconds in the 800m Freestyle (9:24.23) finishing eighth. In the 400m Free Hayden dropped 4.01 seconds (4:33.44) and was 9th overall. On the last day of the meet Hayden continued to show his long-distance ability, dropping 21.10 seconds in the 1500m Freestyle hitting the touch pad in 4th place (17:46.43).
Taylor Tedhams (10) lowered her best time in the 200m Freestyle by 1.37 seconds (2:49.39), finishing 10th. Taylor led off the Swim Florida 200m Medley Relay with a FLAG cut time of 41.69 (-.58) also on the relay was Lexi Bulawan (10) [Breaststroke], Bethany Wang (10) [Butterfly] and Isabella Figueroa (10) [Freestyle]. The relay splashed home in second place (2:40.34). Taylor also teamed up with Lexi, Isabella, and Bethany to capture third place in the 10 & Under 200m Freestyle Relay (2:25.46).
Bethany Wang dropped 1.48 seconds finishing 5th in the 200m Free (2:40.97), finished 2nd in the 100m Breaststroke (1:33.10), lowered her 100m Butterfly by .86 (1:27.84) and finished 5th. In the 100m Backstroke Bethany broke the team record set by Lindsey Alexander in 1997, as she lowered her own best time by 3.36 seconds (1:21.09) taking the gold medal. In the 200m Individual Medley Bethany dropped 1.04 seconds (2:56.41) taking the silver medal. Bethany then finished 2nd in the 50m Breaststroke lowering her best by 1.00 seconds (42.57).
