Sarah. Since 1984, he has been an active member of St. Andrew
Catholic Church.
Coach Ron has been a member of
Swim Florida – Cape Aquatics Swim Club, since 1992 and has
served on the Board of Directors for five years as
vice-president. In 1997, he became a registered swim coach with
Florida Swimming and the United States Swimming Association
(USS), and was previously registered as a swimmer with the
United States Master Swimming Association (USMS). He is a
member of the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA). All
three of his daughters swam competitively for Swim Florida –
Cape Aquatics graduating from the program at age 18. Three
daughters qualified for Florida Senior Championships, two
qualified for Junior Olympics and USS Southeastern Zone
Sectional Championships and one daughter received “All American”
recognition. All three daughters set high school records and
were certified Lifeguards teaching swimming lessons for the City
of Fort Myers. Sarah Kerfoot is now coaching for the team.
Having coached the 8
and under, age group, high school and master level swimmers,
Coach Ron enjoys working with swimmers of all ages. His current
groups are the 5 to 7 year old level and high school age
swimmers. He often works with swimmers just entering the sport
and strives to show new athletes that swimming is fun. Further,
in his philosophical approach towards the sport, he hopes that
his swimmers grow to love the sport, develop a passion for the
exercise work-outs and find confidence in their abilities. He
believes swimming is a great, family oriented sport that can
become a life long approach to staying physically fit. Most
importantly, a strong swimmer may save their life or the life of
another.
